Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters
Oshimeter
Synopsis
It's been seven long years since Cell, and Gohan is a teenager trying to survive something arguably worse than intergalactic tyrants: high school. He's attending classes in Satan City, secretly fighting crime as the deeply uncool superhero "Great Saiyaman," and trying not to blow his cover around Videl, the daughter of the guy who took credit for saving the world. It's goofy, it's endearing, and it sets the stage for the Majin Buu saga — the final major arc of Dragon Ball Z, remastered and trimmed down to 61 episodes in this TV series from Toei Animation. The big draw here is what they cut out. If you watched the original DBZ Buu saga, you probably remember stretches where nothing happened for episodes at a time. Kai strips all that filler away and sticks close to Akira Toriyama's manga, so the pacing actually moves. The visuals are remastered in HD, and the original voice cast re-recorded their lines, so it sounds familiar but cleaner. If you liked Naruto or Bleach but got frustrated by filler arcs dragging things out, this is basically what those shows would look like with editorial discipline. And if you're a One Piece fan who respects long-running shounen but values your time, Kai respects your time. It's the Buu saga the way it probably should have been told the first time — tighter, sharper, and still packed with the martial arts action and dumb comedy that made Dragon Ball what it is.
