Synopsis

When a mysterious green light petrifies all of humanity, it takes thousands of years before a science-obsessed teenager named Senku Ishigami finally wakes up in a world completely reclaimed by nature. Civilization is gone. Nature has swallowed everything. And Senku's response to this is basically, "Cool, I'll just reinvent everything from scratch." Starting from literally nothing — stone tools, foraged materials, bare hands — he begins speedrunning the entire history of human technology, using actual real-world science to do it. This 24-episode TV series from TMS Entertainment kicks off when Senku's friend Taiju also breaks free from petrification, and the two of them start working toward reviving the rest of humanity. But not everyone who wakes up shares Senku's vision for how the new world should look, and that's where things get interesting. The comedy hits well — Senku's deadpan confidence against Taiju's loud sincerity makes for a fun dynamic — but what really sets Dr. Stone apart is how genuinely educational it is without ever feeling like a lecture. You're watching a guy craft antibiotics and generators in the wilderness, and the show walks you through the reasoning in a way that's actually engaging. The post-apocalyptic setting has a vibe that fans of 7 Seeds or Astra Lost in Space would appreciate, but with a much more optimistic, problem-solving energy. If you liked Land of the Lustrous for its unique take on a world without humans, this one explores a similar idea from a completely different angle.

Dr. Stone completely changed the way I see science. This anime makes science feel exciting, fun, and inspiring instead of complicated. The plot is amazing, the characters are memorable, and every episode keeps you hooked. Definitely one of my favorite anime ever!
This episode is the perfect example of when Dr. Stone is at its best. The science aspect isn't exclusively a plot device to move things forward, it has real connections to the characters and what they need. If you wear glasses, this episode might hit you particularly hard.
It definitely feels underwhelming as a finale, but this season in general has set up the future events really well. I feel like they could have done more build-up with Tsukasa and Hyoga though, their short exposition was lacking if anything.
