After a mysterious event petrifies humanity, a science-minded youth and his physically strong friend work to rebuild civilization using the power of science.

📖 SYNOPSIS

When a mysterious green light petrifies all of humanity, it takes thousands of years before a science-obsessed teenager named Senku Ishigami finally wakes up in a world completely reclaimed by nature. Civilization is gone. Nature has swallowed everything. And Senku's response to this is basically, "Cool, I'll just reinvent everything from scratch." Starting from literally nothing — stone tools, foraged materials, bare hands — he begins speedrunning the entire history of human technology, using actual real-world science to do it. This 24-episode TV series from TMS Entertainment kicks off when Senku's friend Taiju also breaks free from petrification, and the two of them start working toward reviving the rest of humanity. But not everyone who wakes up shares Senku's vision for how the new world should look, and that's where things get interesting. The comedy hits well — Senku's deadpan confidence against Taiju's loud sincerity makes for a fun dynamic — but what really sets Dr. Stone apart is how genuinely educational it is without ever feeling like a lecture. You're watching a guy craft antibiotics and generators in the wilderness, and the show walks you through the reasoning in a way that's actually engaging. The post-apocalyptic setting has a vibe that fans of 7 Seeds or Astra Lost in Space would appreciate, but with a much more optimistic, problem-solving energy. If you liked Land of the Lustrous for its unique take on a world without humans, this one explores a similar idea from a completely different angle.

✨ MUST WATCH IF...

You love seeing real science — chemistry, physics, engineering — used as the main problem-solving tool
Senku's cocky genius personality and his rivalry with Tsukasa across 24 episodes hooks you
Post-apocalyptic rebuilding from scratch — crafting iron, electricity, antibiotics — sounds like your thing
TMS Entertainment's vibrant art style and colorful stone-world designs appeal to you

❌ SKIP IF...

You want nonstop action — this season's focus is scientific discovery and village-building arcs
Exaggerated character designs and over-the-top facial expressions aren't your style
Female characters filling mostly supportive roles without much depth will bug you
