Dokkoida?!
Oshimeter
Synopsis
At 19, completely broke, and just needing a job, Suzuo gets something else entirely: a prototype power suit from an alien girl named Tanpopo, a gig catching galactic criminals, and a superhero alter ego named Dokkoida — who wears what basically amounts to a diaper. The catch: his results are void if anyone figures out his identity. The bigger catch: the villains he's supposed to be fighting are all secretly living in the same apartment building as him, each hiding their own identities for the exact same reason. Nobody can blow anyone else's cover, so they all just... coexist. As neighbors. Awkwardly. It's a 12-episode OVA-length TV series from ufotable, based on a light novel, and it leans hard into superhero and tokusatsu parody in the same chaotic, self-aware way that Excel Saga did with genre conventions. If you liked FLCL's brand of unhinged energy wrapped loosely around an actual story, the vibe here is comparable — though Dokkoida is a bit more grounded in its absurdity. The humor mostly comes from the situation itself: everyone knows the rules, everyone's trying to keep a straight face, and everyday apartment drama keeps erupting in the middle of what's supposed to be an intergalactic conflict. It's lowkey, comedic, and doesn't take itself seriously for a single frame. Good entry point if you want something short and silly without a lot of emotional investment required.
