EPISODE CONTEXT
Landing exactly at the series' halfway point, this episode is a direct continuation of the DATS team's pursuit of Kurata and his Digimon extermination campaign — a threat that has been escalating since the Digital World arc began. New adversaries introduced here force the team into unfamiliar territory, and the episode ends with a clear mechanical consequence — broken Digivices — that the next episode will need to address before the mission can continue.
