Digimon Data Squad
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Never once losing a street fight, Masaru Daimon settles everything with his fists. Agumon is a Digimon who wandered into the human world and has zero interest in being told what to do. Their first meeting ends exactly how you'd expect — a full-on brawl — and somehow that becomes the foundation of a genuine friendship. A secret government unit called DATS recruits them almost immediately, because apparently a human who can go toe-to-toe with a Digimon is not something you see every day. What follows is a 48-episode TV series about the two of them investigating Digimon incidents in the human world, with Masaru punching his way through problems while Agumon evolves to back him up. The twist this series brings is 'Digisoul' — Masaru's emotional energy physically fuels Agumon's evolution, so the fights feel personal in a way earlier Digimon seasons didn't quite nail. The show also skews older than the classic seasons, with a cast that actually acts like teenagers rather than kids, and the drama lands harder because of it. If you grew up with Zatch Bell! or Shaman King and want that same 'human and monster partner' energy but with a more grounded emotional core, this scratches that itch well. It's funny when it wants to be, but it doesn't shy away from weight when the story calls for it. A solid underrated entry in the franchise.
