Synopsis

Walking a razor-thin edge between human and something else has always defined Allen Walker, but in D.Gray-man Hallow, that edge basically disappears. This 13-episode TV series picks up where the original D.Gray-man left off, and it wastes zero time raising the stakes. Allen arrives at the Black Order's new headquarters only to have his Innocence-powered arm sealed against his will and get dragged into a meeting with his master, General Cross Marian. What Cross tells him about the 14th Noah — and Allen's own connection to this figure — reframes everything you thought you knew about the character. The show leans hard into questions of identity and loyalty, putting Allen in a position where even his allies start looking at him differently. The power system built around Innocence and Akuma remains one of the more interesting ones in shounen, and the darker tone here compared to the earlier series gives the whole thing a weight that sticks with you. TMS Entertainment handles the animation, and the soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in setting that moody, suspenseful atmosphere. If you liked the moral complexity of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood or the exorcist-versus-demon tension in Blue Exorcist, this hits a similar nerve. Fans of Soul Eater's blend of action and creeping dread will find familiar ground too. At only 13 episodes, it's a tight, focused continuation that doesn't drag — though fair warning, it assumes you've seen the original series.
