EPISODE CONTEXT
Coming directly off Episode 43, 'Ryu's Determination', which sharpened the personal resolve of one of the team's key members, Episode 44 immediately escalates the overarching conflict to its highest point by making Dan Morihiko himself the target. As the second-to-last episode of the series, it functions as the final launch point before the series finale, 'The Future Detective', setting up the ultimate confrontation and resolution of threads built across the entire run.
