Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Movie: Infinity Castle - Part 1: Akaza Returns
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Every last member of the Demon Slayer Corps, Tanjiro Kamado included, just got pulled into the Infinity Castle — Muzan Kibutsuji's personal fortress where the walls shift, the floors collapse, and everyone gets separated almost immediately. This movie is the first part of a trilogy covering the final arc, and it wastes zero time throwing characters into life-or-death fights. The subtitle tells you what matters here: Akaza returns, and if you remember what he did during the Mugen Train arc, you know that's a problem. Giyu Tomioka is right there alongside Tanjiro this time, which sets up one of the most anticipated rematches in the whole series. Ufotable is doing what ufotable does — the animation blends 2D and 3D in ways that make fight sequences feel genuinely cinematic rather than just flashy. The Infinity Castle itself is a character, this impossible M.C. Escher-looking space that keeps everyone disoriented and isolated. There's real tension in not knowing who's going to run into which Upper Rank demon. If you liked the scale of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War or the final season energy of Attack on Titan, this hits a similar note — it's the endgame, stakes are maxed out, and not everyone is making it through. Fans of Jujutsu Kaisen 0's tighter movie format will appreciate how this condenses the chaos into a focused, intense experience. Set in Taishō-era Japan, grounded in grief and stubbornness, and animated like nothing else out there right now.
