I finally understood why everyone talks about this episode so much. Tanjiro and Nezuko fighting together while protecting each other gave me chills the entire time. The music and emotions made the ending feel so powerful and unforgettable.

Synopsis
After a day spent selling charcoal, Tanjiro Kamado returns home to find his entire family massacred by demons — except his sister Nezuko, who's been turned into one. That's episode one. From there, this 26-episode TV series is about a genuinely kind kid trying to do two impossible things at once: survive as a Demon Slayer and find a way to turn his sister human again. The sibling bond is the emotional core here, and it hits harder than you'd expect from a shounen action show. Tanjiro isn't an edgy loner or a loudmouth prodigy — he's just a decent person thrown into something horrific, and that makes you root for him in a way that feels earned. Set in Taishō-era Japan, the historical backdrop gives everything a distinct atmosphere, and ufotable's animation is genuinely on another level. The fight scenes use a "Breathing Styles" combat system where each technique gets these gorgeous water and flame visual effects that look like moving paintings. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting too, turning already tense moments into something that stays with you. If you liked the stakes and world-building of Attack on Titan or the brother-sister devotion in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, this covers similar ground with its own identity. Fans of Bleach's supernatural swordplay will feel at home with the combat. It's dark, it's emotional, and the production quality never dips.

Quick Takes
View all 1,407 takesThe episode is a flawless conclusion to the introduction arc. This episode actually made me feel sad for the kids the demon killed and the demon too. I also can't wait to see more of the characters that were introduced in this episode. The crow speaking caught me off guard.
I love the introduction of the Hand demon which provides a chilling sense of history and personal stakes, anchoring the supernatural horror Tanjiro's lineage. The pacing feels a bit rushed and glosses over some of the other candidates.
