Cheeky Angel
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Megumi Amatsuka was nine years old when he wished to become the manliest man alive. A genie granted that wish in reverse, turning him into a girl. Now in high school, Megumi is still a girl, still furious about it, and still looking for a way to undo the whole mess. The problem is she's also become the most intimidatingly beautiful person at school, which draws exactly the kind of attention she doesn't want. When she floors the school bully Genzo in a fight within her first days, he immediately develops feelings for her, and things get complicated from there. Megumi doesn't want romance — she wants her original body back. The gap between what she's chasing and what keeps finding her is where most of the comedy lives. It's a 50-episode TV series from 2002, so it has room to breathe and actually build its cast and relationships rather than rushing anything. The gender-swap premise handles identity with more genuine curiosity than you might expect from that era. If you liked Ranma 1/2 and want something with a similar setup but a more grounded emotional core, this scratches that itch. Fans of Kämpfer will also find familiar territory here, though Cheeky Angel leans harder into character dynamics than action. The tone stays comedic and romantic throughout, but Megumi's frustration and her slow, reluctant relationships give it real weight underneath the jokes.
