Synopsis
Terrible luck follows Goro Mutsumi everywhere — the kind where everything just keeps going wrong — and his life gets turned upside down when twelve girls show up at his door claiming to be the reincarnated spirits of his deceased pets, back in human form to protect and support him. Yes, his pets. The dog, the cat, the bird — all of them, now living in his apartment and hovering over his daily life with the same loyal devotion they had as animals, just with more personality and significantly more chaos. The first couple of episodes are mostly about Goro trying to wrap his head around this situation while the girls settle in, each one carrying habits and quirks that are very obviously animal in origin. It's warm and a little silly, and the comedy comes naturally from watching, say, a girl who used to be a cat act exactly like you'd expect. If you liked the cozy domestic energy of Ah! My Goddess or the ensemble household dynamic of Sister Princess, this fits comfortably in that same space. It's not trying to be anything deep — it's a lighthearted fantasy-comedy with a genuinely sweet premise about loyalty and companionship. The two OVA episodes are essentially bonus content from the main series, so they work best if you've already spent time with the cast. Low stakes, gentle humor, easy to watch.
