Synopsis

A naive village kid named Tatsumi travels to the Capital thinking he'll join the army, make money, and save his struggling hometown. Within about two days, he learns the empire is rotten to its core — the child Emperor is a puppet, the Prime Minister is a monster, and the nobility tortures people for sport behind closed doors. After witnessing that firsthand, Tatsumi gets pulled into Night Raid, a group of assassins working with the Revolutionary Army to tear the whole corrupt system down. Each member carries a Teigu — unique weapons with wild abilities, from an invisible sword to a suit of armor that makes you nearly invincible. The Teigu system keeps the fights varied and unpredictable, and the show leans into that hard with some genuinely well-animated action sequences courtesy of White Fox. But here's the thing that sets this apart from a lot of shounen: nobody is safe. The show has real stakes, and characters you care about can and will die. It doesn't pull punches with the violence either — the gore theme is earned. The tone sits somewhere between Attack on Titan's bleakness and Tokyo Ghoul's moral gray areas, with a fantasy setting that gives it room to get creative. If you liked Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood's corrupt military storyline but want something darker and less forgiving, this 24-episode TV series hits that spot. Just don't get too attached to anyone.

This is the final battle between the two OP characters in the series. The animation here was very sharp and fluid. The pacing here was steady enough for an emotional epilogue. I really admire Esdeath's love for Tatsumi here, even though twisted, she really yearns for him.
The animation here was unprecedented. The giant Teigu felt massive and overwhelming. The pacing here was intense as Tatsumi pushed his Teigu to its limit just to stop the Emperor. This episode made me really proud of Tatsumi as he is really a heroic and just character.
This ep was a masterclass both in sword choreography and sisterly tragedy. The pacing here felt deliberate as it felt like they gave each one a room to breathe before the final strike. This was a heartbreaking ep, they didn't deserve to meet on opposite sides.
