📖 SYNOPSIS
At just 18, aspiring manga creator Chika Suzugamori has just got three drafts rejected in one day. Her editor tells her to draw from life experience, but she literally has none — she's a homebody who only thinks about manga. So in a moment of desperation, she posts a poll online asking where she should go, hops on a train north from Tokyo, and just... leaves. That's the whole premise of this 12-episode TV series, and it works way better than it has any right to. Chika's solo trip across Japan turns into this gentle, meandering thing where she stumbles into new places, meets people like her easygoing friend Koyomi and history nerd Yui, and slowly starts finding the creative spark she lost. The neat twist is that the original manga actually used real reader polls to decide Chika's destinations, so there's this unscripted, spontaneous quality to where the story goes. Studio Makaria puts real care into the backgrounds — you're basically getting a virtual tour of Japan, from quiet rural towns to random roadside spots most travel shows would skip. If you liked the cozy travel vibes of Laid-Back Camp or the personal journey feel of Encouragement of Climb, this hits a similar frequency. It's also got a bit of that Kino's Journey DNA, where the destination matters less than what you find along the way. Perfect wind-down anime for when you want something warm and low-stakes that still has something to say about creativity and getting unstuck.
