📖 SYNOPSIS
All a young bear cub named Yugo wants is to hang out with his grandma. She comes to visit from the countryside, they watch a comedy show in the park, and Yugo is so excited about their day that he can't stop telling his family about it. It's that specific kind of childhood joy where a single good day feels like the whole world. Then COVID hits. Yugo gets stuck at home like the rest of us did in 2020, and worse, he finds out his grandmother has gotten sick. For a while he tries to be patient, but he's a kid — a bear kid, sure, but still a kid — and eventually the worry and restlessness push him to quietly slip out of the house. This ONA captures something really specific about that early pandemic period: the helplessness of being separated from someone you love and not being able to do anything about it. The whole thing has a gentle, reflective tone — think the quiet emotional honesty of A Letter to Momo or the warmth of My Neighbor Totoro, but grounded in a very real, very recent moment in time. If you liked the family dynamics in Wolf Children, the way everyday life can carry real emotional weight, this hits similar notes. It's a kids' demographic title with anthropomorphic characters, but the feelings it deals with are pretty universal. A small, wholesome story about a small bear trying to hold onto the people he loves.
