Wellber no Monogatari: Sisters of Wellber
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Stabbing your arranged fiancé on the wedding day is one way to stop a political marriage — and that's exactly what Rita, a princess tasked with marrying a prince to prevent a war, chose to do before running for her life. Now the neighboring kingdom of Sangatras wants her head on a pike, and the fragile peace between two nations is hanging by a thread. On the run, Rita crosses paths with Tina Lothar, a cat burglar with her own vendetta — her parents were murdered and she's not the type to let that go. The two form an unlikely partnership and set off toward the neutral Kingdom of Greedom, hoping to find a way to prevent full-scale war before Rita's own kingdom hands her over. What makes this 13-episode TV series more than just a road trip through medieval politics is the dynamic between these two leads — a princess who's done being a political pawn and a thief who's equal parts charm and blade. There's also an AI-powered tankette named Cyrano de Bergerac tagging along, which tells you the setting isn't strictly traditional fantasy. The tone bounces between comedic banter, genuine emotional beats, and solid action sequences without losing the political tension underneath. If you liked the fugitive princess energy of Scrapped Princess or the warrior-protector dynamic from Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit, this hits a similar space. It also shares some DNA with El Cazador de la Bruja in its two-women-on-the-run structure. It's a compact story that doesn't overstay its welcome.
