EPISODE CONTEXT
Arriving at the season's midpoint, episode 9 escalates the conflict significantly after Askeladd's band returned from raiding Frankish territory in the preceding episodes. The Battle of London Bridge formally introduces the large-scale Danish campaign for England and puts Thorkell directly in the path of our central characters, fundamentally raising the stakes. This episode sets the stage for 'Ragnarok' and the strategic fracturing that follows, pushing the season into its increasingly complex second half.
