Umamusume: Pretty Derby Season 2
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Picture a world where horse girls sprint for glory on the racetrack while fans cheer, and then they perform idol concerts right after — that's the world of Uma Musume, and somehow it works way better than it has any right to. Season 2 is a 13-episode TV series that shifts the spotlight to Toukai Teiou, a naturally gifted and infectiously upbeat horse girl who wants to follow in the footsteps of her idol, the legendary Symboli Rudolf, by winning the Triple Crown — three consecutive top-tier races that nobody has pulled off since Rudolf herself. Standing alongside her is Mejiro McQueen, her closest friend and fiercest rival, and the dynamic between them is honestly the emotional core of the whole thing. Studio KAI brings genuinely fluid animation to the race sequences, and the soundtrack hits hard when it needs to. The early episodes set up Teiou's ambition and confidence, but there's a tension underneath — she's chasing something that might be bigger than raw talent alone can handle. If you liked the emotional weight behind competitions in Love Live or the tight character bonds in K-On, this scratches a similar itch but with real stakes on the track. Fans of Aikatsu's blend of performance and personal growth will feel at home here too. Don't let the premise make you skeptical. This season earns every bit of investment it asks for.
