EPISODE CONTEXT
Coming off Episode 4, where Rokuro began reconsidering his return to exorcism after witnessing Ryogo's hospitalization, this fifth episode capitalizes on that emotional momentum by throwing both Twin Stars into a crisis that proves they can't face everything alone. The introduction of Shimon Ikaruga and the Twelve Guardians opens a major new layer to the series' power structure early in this 50-episode run. It sets the stage for the protagonists' growth arc and the alliances they'll need to forge as threats continue to intensify.
