EPISODE CONTEXT
Coming off the BB Corn hunt in Episode 20, this episode marks a turning point as the Gourmet Corps transitions from a looming threat to an active antagonist force, putting Toriko directly in their crosshairs. The combat evolution Toriko undergoes here is foundational for what follows. Episode 22 continues this confrontation with the villain Grinpatch, making this the opening salvo of a more sustained conflict arc early in the series' 147-episode run.
