Tom and Jerry
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Tom and Jerry, but make it kawaii. That's basically the deal with Tom to Jerry Gokko, a Japanese anime spin on the classic cat-and-mouse rivalry that swaps out the slapstick violence for pastel colors, rounded character designs, and genuinely adorable chaos. Tom, Jerry, and the diaper-wearing Tuffy Mouse bounce around a candy-colored world where the chases feel more like playground tag than actual conflict. The twist that makes it its own thing: characters physically transform based on what they eat. Tom scarfs down a melon and becomes a big bouncing sphere. Jerry nibbles cheese and goes full triangle. It's weird, it's silly, and it works way better than it sounds on paper. Each episode clocks in at about a minute, so you can watch a whole batch in the time it takes to microwave popcorn. The tone leans heavily into friendship and playful energy rather than the old-school "anvil on the head" routine, which makes it a genuinely relaxing watch. If you grew up on Doraemon or Shin Chan and have a soft spot for that kind of lighthearted, no-stakes comedy, this scratches a similar itch. It also shares some DNA with Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater in how it reimagines familiar characters through a softer lens. Produced by Fanworks and Studio Nanahoshi for Cartoon Network Japan, it originally aired to celebrate Japan's Cheese Day — November 11 — which is honestly the most on-brand launch date possible for anything involving Jerry Mouse.
