EPISODE CONTEXT
Following the premiere's shocking transformation, 'Incubation' is the essential second step — forcing Kaneki (and the audience) to sit with the consequences rather than rush past them. It establishes the central tension between human morality and ghoul instinct that will drive the entire twelve-episode season. This episode also lays critical groundwork for Kaneki's eventual integration into the ghoul community and the looming introduction of CCG investigators, whose presence will dramatically escalate the conflict in episodes to come.
