'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess Season 2
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Held prisoner by the Hellhorde, a warrior princess would rather die than betray her kingdom. Her captors know this, so they don't bother with chains or threats. Instead, the Hellhorde's Grand Inquisitor, Torture Tortura, pulls out freshly baked toast with melting butter, steaming bowls of ramen, and other devastatingly good food. The Princess folds every single time. That's the whole bit, and it never stops being funny. This second season picks up right where the first left off — the Princess is still imprisoned, still swearing she won't crack, and still absolutely cracking the moment someone waves a parfait in front of her. The comedy works because the show commits to it completely. There's no winking at the camera. Tortura genuinely believes she's running a ruthless interrogation program, and the Princess genuinely feels guilty about caving for a rice ball. The dynamic between captor and captive has this weird warmth to it, like they've all just settled into a routine nobody wants to break. PINE JAM keeps the food looking absurdly good across all 12 episodes, which honestly feels like part of the joke — you're watching a prisoner get interrogated and your mouth is watering. If you liked the cozy fantasy vibes of Dungeon Meshi or the oddball charm of Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon, this hits a similar frequency. It's comfort food anime about comfort food, and the second season doesn't fix what was never broken.
