📖 SYNOPSIS
For ten long years, Rentt Faina ground away at weak monsters in the labyrinth as a bottom-tier adventurer, watching everyone else climb the ranks past him. Then he ran into a dragon and died. Except he didn't stay dead — he woke up as a skeleton. Not a powerful lich or anything cool like that, just... bones. This TV series follows Rentt as he tries to claw his way back to being human through something called Existential Evolution, basically leveling up through different undead forms until he can pass for a living person again. Season 2 picks up that journey, with Rentt continuing to navigate a world that doesn't exactly roll out the welcome mat for the undead, while leaning on his friend Lorraine, a researcher who's been helping him figure out the rules of his new existence. The vibe is dark fantasy adventure with a surprisingly grounded emotional core — Rentt isn't some overpowered hero, he's a guy who was already struggling before he lost his skin. There's real weight to his identity crisis beneath the dungeon crawling and monster fights. If you liked the underdog-turned-monster angle from Skeleton Knight in Another World or the slow power progression in Arifureta, this hits a similar space but with more introspection and less power fantasy. Fans of Overlord's undead protagonist concept will find familiar ground here too, just from a more vulnerable starting point. Based on the light novel, so there's plenty of story left to tell.
