EPISODE CONTEXT
After Episode 1's devastating betrayal and Episode 2's rebuilding through Naofumi's partnership with Raphtalia, this third episode is the first major inflection point — the heroes face the actual threat they were summoned to combat. It stress-tests the alliances and grudges established so far, particularly Naofumi's isolation from the other Cardinal Heroes. The fallout here feeds directly into Episode 4, 'Lullaby at Dawn,' which deals with the battle's consequences and deepens the trajectory for the rest of the season.
