The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Built like he could bench press a vending machine, Rintarou Tsumugi spends his free time decorating cakes at his family's patisserie. That gap between appearance and reality is basically the whole heart of this show. He's a student at Chidori Public High School, a place with a reputation for delinquents, sitting right next to Kikyo Private Academy — an elite all-girls school full of prim, proper young ladies. The two schools have beef going back years, and students from each side don't exactly hang out. Then Kaoruko Waguri, a bright and genuinely kind Kikyo student, walks into the bakery, and suddenly the invisible wall between their worlds starts to crack. What follows is a slow, warm romance built on two people seeing each other for who they actually are instead of what their schools say they should be. CloverWorks handles the animation across 13 episodes, and the visual contrast between the refined Kikyo aesthetic and Chidori's rougher energy gives every scene a nice sense of place. The soundtrack by Moeki Harada leans into the emotional moments without overdoing it. If you liked the misunderstood-tough-guy sweetness of Kimi ni Todoke or the way Toradora pairs people who defy first impressions, this hits a similar frequency. It's got a bit of My Little Monster's energy too — that tension between how someone looks and how they feel. Romantic, youthful, and genuinely tender without being saccharine.
