The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Dispatched to Earth on a desperate mission, demon Masatora Akutsu must infiltrate a Japanese high school and recruit a powerful human to turn the tide in Hell's losing war against Heaven. He enrolls as a transfer student, scopes out his classmates, and quickly zeroes in on Lily Amane — beautiful, charming, seemingly the perfect candidate. There's just one problem. Lily is actually an angel working undercover with her own plans, and now these two supernatural enemies are stuck sitting next to each other in class, each trying to manipulate the other while pretending to be normal teenagers. What follows is a 12-episode TV series of back-and-forth mind games that keep dissolving into comedy because neither of them can stay focused when the other is involved. The dynamic between Masatora and Lily is the whole engine here — he's genuinely flustered by her, she's not above using that, and the romantic tension builds in ways that feel natural even with all the angel-demon nonsense happening around them. If you liked the supernatural comedy of Gabriel DropOut or the fish-out-of-water charm of The Devil Is a Part-Timer, this scratches a similar itch but leans harder into the romance. It also shares some DNA with High School DxD's premise, though the tone is lighter and more playful than fanservice-heavy. Based on a seinen manga, it's a relaxed watch — nothing groundbreaking, but the character chemistry carries it pretty easily through a single cour.
