The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Kimihiko Kimizuka had one job: be the assistant to a legendary detective named Siesta. Then she died, and he figured his days of getting tangled up in impossible cases were over. They were not. Season 2 picks up with Kimihiko still processing that loss while getting pulled right back into the thick of things — new mysteries, old enemies, and people connected to Siesta in ways he's only starting to understand. Nagisa Natsunagi, the girl who shares a strange and unexplained link to the late detective, is back alongside Charlotte Arisaka Anderson, and the group dynamics keep shifting in interesting directions as the cases get more personal. The show walks this line between genuine mystery tension and lighter comedic and romantic moments, and it mostly works because the characters feel lived-in by now. There's real weight to Kimihiko trying to figure out who he is without Siesta, even when the tone dips into something playful. If you're into detective anime like Fantastic Detective Labyrinth or Tantei Opera Milky Holmes but want something with a stronger emotional through-line, this hits a different spot. Fans of Nightwalker: The Midnight Detective might also vibe with the moody, noir-adjacent atmosphere that creeps in around the edges. Studio ENGI is handling animation again for this TV series, and the 2026 return gives them time to tighten things up from season one.
