Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie
Oshimeter
Synopsis
At the head of a criminal empire called Shadowlaw, M. Bison has a pretty straightforward recruiting strategy — find the strongest fighters on the planet and brainwash them into his personal army. Standing in his way are Ryu, a wandering martial artist who doesn't care about anything except getting stronger, and his old training partner Ken Masters, who's living it up in the States. Meanwhile, Interpol agent Chun-Li and U.S. Air Force Major Guile are trying to take Shadowlaw down through more official channels, but Bison's psycho power makes him a problem nobody can solve alone. The story hops across the globe as these threads slowly converge, and the tension builds toward some genuinely impressive showdowns. This is a 1994 movie from Group TAC, adapted from the arcade game, and honestly it's one of the better video game adaptations out there — the animation holds up surprisingly well, the fights have real weight and choreography to them, and the soundtrack ties everything together in a way that elevates the whole thing. The characters actually feel like their game counterparts instead of weird reinterpretations. If you enjoyed Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture or Tekken: The Motion Picture, this sits right alongside those but arguably does the fighting game movie thing better than either. It's a single movie, so there's zero commitment involved — just martial arts, globe-trotting action, and a solid villain you want to see get punched.
