EPISODE CONTEXT
Having left the Solar System behind in Episode 7, this marks the Yamato's first serious deep-space confrontation with Gamilas forces — a critical transition point roughly a third of the way through the 26-episode journey to Iscandar. The encounter establishes the escalating pattern of Gamilas opposition that will define the middle stretch of the series, making it clear that the enemy is adaptive, strategic, and far from finished with the Yamato.
