Sore Ike! Anpanman: Chapon no Hero!
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Dropping from a clear sky with no memory, a mysterious boy lands in a world where the local superhero has a head made of a sweet bean bun. That's Anpanman for you — one of the longest-running anime franchises in Japan, and this 2025 movie gives it a surprisingly heartfelt story. Chapon, the mystery boy, gets taken in by Anpanman and his friends, and through helping people around town, he starts to feel what it's like to matter to someone. He wants to be a hero too. But then Baikinman — the germ-themed villain who's been causing trouble for decades — shows up claiming to know where Chapon actually came from. And suddenly Chapon has to figure out whether his past gets to decide his future, or if the person he's choosing to become is what counts. It's a kids' movie, yeah, but the identity stuff hits in a way that works regardless of age. TMS Entertainment keeps the animation warm and colorful, and the food-themed character designs are genuinely charming once you stop questioning the logic of a bread-headed hero. If you grew up with Doraemon or Crayon Shin-chan, this lives in that same neighborhood — gentle comedy with a good heart underneath. And if you've got younger siblings or kids of your own, Anpanman is basically the gateway anime for that age group. Chapon's story about finding where you belong is simple but honest, and sometimes that's exactly enough.
