📖 SYNOPSIS
When a centuries-old demon from the Sui Dynasty resurfaces in 17th-century China, he begins tearing through Henan Province looking for two magical books that'll basically make him unstoppable, so three teenagers get shipped off to a Shaolin Temple to learn Kung Fu. That's the setup for this 26-episode TV series, and it wastes very little time getting into the action.
Tang Xiaolong, Cheng Xiaohu, and Hua Xiaolan are the trio at the center of it all. They're young, undertrained, and suddenly responsible for stopping a supernatural threat that hasn't been seen in centuries. Early episodes focus on their training at the temple—learning actual Shaolin techniques—while the Demon sends his minions to do his dirty work. The show treats the martial arts with a surprising level of respect, grounding the fights in recognizable Kung Fu styles even as the mythology gets wilder.
The vibe is action-packed but also steeped in Chinese historical flavor. The 17th-century setting isn't just window dressing; it shapes the world these kids move through. If you enjoyed the theatrical martial arts energy of Thunderbolt Fantasy or the wuxia dynamics of Handsome Siblings, this hits a similar sweet spot between grounded combat and supernatural escalation. Fans of Listening Snow Tower's blend of mystery and period setting might find something here too.
It's a straightforward good-vs-evil story, but the Shaolin setting and mythology give it more texture than you'd expect going in.
