Scissor Seven
Oshimeter
Synopsis
On the tiny Chicken Island, a hairdresser moonlights as a freelance assassin, except he's genuinely terrible at it. Wu Liuqi has amnesia, telekinetic scissor powers, and the ability to shapeshift into basically anything — which sounds overpowered until you watch him consistently botch every single job he takes. His failures aren't really about skill though. The guy just has too much heart to actually go through with killing people. His manager is a talking chicken named Dai Bo, and together they stumble through contracts while Wu Liuqi tries to piece together who he actually is. This is a Chinese ONA, and the animation style reflects that — it blends traditional Chinese aesthetics with a loose, expressive energy that feels completely its own. The humor lands somewhere between Gintama's absurdist comedy and One Punch Man's subversion of overpowered protagonists. Ten episodes, each pretty short, so the pacing stays tight. But here's the thing: underneath all the goofy assassination attempts and ridiculous side characters, there's a genuine emotional thread about identity and what kind of person you choose to be when you can't remember who you were. If you liked the comedic heart of To Be Hero or wanted something with One Punch Man's premise-as-punchline energy but in a completely different cultural wrapper, this is worth the few hours it takes to finish. Don't sleep on the soundtrack either — it's surprisingly good.
