Saga of Tanya the Evil II
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Picture a cutthroat Japanese salaryman who gets reincarnated as a little blonde girl in an alternate World War I Europe — and instead of questioning his life choices, he climbs the military ranks as a terrifyingly efficient aerial mage. That's Tanya Degurechaff, and she's back for a second season. If you haven't seen the first season, go fix that. If you have, you already know the deal: Tanya leads the 203rd Aerial Mage Battalion through increasingly brutal campaigns, outmaneuvering everyone on the battlefield while locked in a personal war against Being X, a god-like entity that keeps trying to force her into faith. Season two picks up with new fronts opening, new enemies closing in, and Tanya's strategic brilliance being tested harder than ever. The appeal here is watching a protagonist who looks like a porcelain doll think like a cold-blooded general. There's no friendship speech saving the day — just calculated risk and ruthless execution. Studio Nut handles the aerial combat with real weight, and the magic system feels grounded in military doctrine rather than fantasy spectacle. If you liked the morally grey power plays in Overlord or the way Re:Zero puts its protagonist through the wringer, Tanya scratches a similar itch but trades those settings for trenches, artillery, and dogfights. Fans of The Rising of the Shield Hero's bitter protagonist energy will find something to appreciate here too. The tone stays dark, the stakes stay high, and Tanya stays unhinged in the best way.
