EPISODE CONTEXT
This is the dramatic fulcrum of the Oniwabanshū conflict — Episode 9 revealed the full scope of the threat, and Episode 10 escalates directly into a face-off with their leader, Aoshi, making it essential viewing before the arc's climax in Episode 11. Still very early in the 94-episode run, this arc establishes the series' pattern of pairing intense swordfighting with deeper explorations of Kenshin's past as the Battōsai. The themes of redemption and the weight of a warrior's legacy introduced here will echo throughout the entire series.
