An utterly unremarkable middle-aged salaryman named Takumi Iruma gets accidentally caught up in a hero summoning ritual and dumped into a fantasy world called Mildgard. The goddess responsible basically says "my bad" and hands him alchemy powers as compensation. Fair trade? Maybe. He gets a younger body too, so that's a plus.
