📖 SYNOPSIS
An utterly unremarkable middle-aged salaryman named Takumi Iruma gets accidentally caught up in a hero summoning ritual and dumped into a fantasy world called Mildgard. The goddess responsible basically says "my bad" and hands him alchemy powers as compensation. Fair trade? Maybe. He gets a younger body too, so that's a plus. Rather than chasing some grand destiny, Takumi decides he'd rather just settle down in the city of Bolton and live a quiet life crafting potions and gear. He picks up alchemy as his trade, befriends an elf named Sofia after curing her of a curse, hires a cheerful housekeeper named Maria, and even tames a pet along the way. The thing is, his alchemical skills are absurdly good, and people start noticing — which is exactly what he didn't want.
This 12-episode TV series from Studio Comet hits a nice middle ground between cozy slice-of-life and actual adventure. The alchemy system is the real draw here — it's not just "throw stuff in a pot," Takumi can create almost anything, which keeps the problem-solving varied and interesting. The mature protagonist angle also gives it a grounded feel compared to the usual teenage hero setup. If you liked the world-building and chill energy of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, or the fresh-start-in-a-new-world vibe of Mushoku Tensei, this one scratches a similar itch. It's not trying to reinvent isekai — it's just doing it with a craftsman's focus and a relaxed pace that works.
