Synopsis

Recruited directly by the Demon King himself, Kaku and Imura are two demons who are absolutely terrible at their jobs. Kaku and Imura want to be fearsome minions worthy of a fantasy RPG villain's army, but every mission they're sent on devolves into failure, bickering, and the kind of workplace frustrations you'd find in a dead-end office job — except with swords and magic. Ponkotsu Quest takes the classic RPG setup and strips it down to its most absurd core. The animation is intentionally minimalist, almost like watching a slideshow someone drew during a boring meeting, and that's kind of the point. The humor comes from the writing, not the spectacle, and it lands way more often than you'd expect from something this low-budget. The episodes are short, so you can burn through the whole thing without committing an afternoon. Think of it as the demon-side version of KonoSuba's useless adventurer energy, or if Senyu leaned even harder into workplace comedy territory. There's also a bit of Dungeon Meshi's charm in how it treats fantasy world mundanity as genuinely interesting comedic material. These BD specials are bonus episodes tied to the main series, so ideally watch that first, but honestly the format is loose enough that you can jump in and still get the vibe. If you're into RPG parodies and dry humor, this one's worth the short time investment.
