EPISODE CONTEXT
Coming right off Ash's arrival in Kalos and his initial meeting with Clemont and Bonnie in episode one, this episode deepens the world-building by introducing Professor Sycamore and the concept of Mega Evolution — both of which become central pillars of the entire 93-episode run. It also solidifies the core group dynamic and sets the adventurous, higher-stakes tone that distinguishes XY from previous series, smoothly transitioning into the journey episodes that follow as Ash begins pursuing Kalos Gym battles.
