EPISODE CONTEXT
Arriving at the halfway mark of the Indigo League stretch, this episode pays off the Egg subplot that has been building across prior adventures, directly following the standalone Farfetch'd encounter. It establishes an important new companion Pokémon that will remain relevant throughout the series, and leads into 'Bulbasaur's Mysterious Garden,' continuing a run of episodes focused on Pokémon growth, evolution, and the bonds between trainers and their partners.
