EPISODE CONTEXT
Coming off the Team Rocket confrontation at the Viridian City Pokémon Center in Episode 2, this episode shifts focus back to Ash's growth as a trainer and begins fleshing out the group dynamic between him and Misty. It serves as critical groundwork for the Indigo League arc by building Ash's roster and setting up the next encounter in 'Challenge of the Samurai,' where his early decisions as a trainer will be directly tested.
