EPISODE CONTEXT
This episode is the second part of a multi-episode arc centered on Clair and the Blackthorn City storyline, directly following 'Fangs for Nothin'' where Team Rocket threatened the Dragon Fang. The crisis here must be resolved before Ash can challenge Clair for his eighth and final Johto League badge in the upcoming 'Better Eight Than Never,' making this a critical bridge episode.
