Dang, Musashi didn't hold back in this one. That was such a badass and chilling moment. While this episode gave us some intense scenes, it leaned more toward building anticipation and hype for the next episode.

Synopsis
Touya Senji ranks among the top 100 students in national mock exams, yet he still feels like a failure. Growing up in the shadow of a naturally gifted older brother will do that to you. Then a classmate named Haito reveals something unsettling — a mysterious artifact called the Branch of Reincarnation that lets people unlock the talents of their past lives. The catch? You have to slit your own throat with it. Haito's already done it and gained the sword skills of Miyamoto Musashi, and now Touya's being pulled into a hidden world of 'Returners' who wield the abilities of historical figures. The power system here is genuinely clever — it's not just random abilities, it's tied to real historical and legendary people, which gives every new character reveal an extra layer of intrigue. The early episodes balance Touya's internal struggle with his self-worth against increasingly intense supernatural confrontations, and the tone sits in this interesting space between brooding mystery and sharp action. If you liked the ability-driven character dynamics of Bungou Stray Dogs or the way Noragami blends mythology with modern teenage problems, this hits a similar nerve. It also shares some DNA with Blue Exorcist in how it handles a protagonist being thrust into a dangerous world he didn't know existed. BENTEN Film is handling the animation for this 2026 TV series, adapted from the shounen manga. Worth keeping on your radar.

Quick Takes
View all 79 takesOh, this is getting good. The world-building is kinda insane because I never expected it to become this complex. I love how the story’s progressing so far. I didn’t expect the last part either! Did someone kiss the brick before throwing it at me? Lol.
I kinda like Kou’s character T^T But fine, okay. I still love the story so far. I didn’t expect it to get emotional. This episode was really good, though it felt more like a setup for the actual climax of the story.
