Driven by vengeance, Aqua delves into the entertainment industry's shadows while Ruby pursues her idol dreams, both seeking answers about their mother's murder.

📖 SYNOPSIS

Reborn into the body of a teen idol's son, the former doctor Aqua Hoshino is using his second life to hunt down the person responsible for his mother's murder. That's the setup from season one, and this second season shifts gears into something unexpected — a deep dive into the world of stage acting through the Tokyo Blade arc. Aqua and Kana Arima land roles in a theatrical adaptation of a hit manga, and what follows is a surprisingly grounded look at how actors build characters, navigate egos, and deal with source material fans who have very loud opinions about which ship should win. Akane Kurokawa, Aqua's girlfriend, gets cast as a character the fanbase actively wants sidelined, which creates this tense dynamic where real relationships and fictional ones start bleeding into each other. Doga Kobo handles the production for this 13-episode TV season, and the animation carries the emotional weight well. The tone stays in that drama-suspense lane — less idol glitter, more backstage tension and characters confronting what performing costs them. If you liked the psychological unraveling in Perfect Blue or the way Your Lie in April ties artistry to personal pain, this hits similar notes but through a modern entertainment industry lens. It's a seinen series that treats its showbiz setting with real specificity rather than just using it as backdrop. The reincarnation angle from Re:Zero fans will feel familiar, but here it's quieter, more of a slow burn underneath everything else.
