📖 SYNOPSIS
Luffy Yamamoto, Nami Koyama, and Usopp Nakatsugawa — three high schoolers who didn't choose to share names with One Piece characters — have fully leaned into it. Together they run their school's One Piece fan club, and the joke writes itself from there. Their everyday high school drama keeps getting filtered through the lens of their favorite manga, turning mundane stuff like cafeteria seating disputes and class elections into exaggerated pirate-style standoffs. It's meta in a way that actually lands, because the humor comes from how earnestly these kids love the source material rather than just winking at the camera.
This is a single ONA episode from Toei Animation, released as a tie-in for ONE PIECE DAY '25, and it's done in a vertical animation format built for phone viewing. So you can knock it out in one sitting without any commitment. The comedy leans on parody — if you liked how Lucky Star turned otaku culture into comedy gold, or how Gintama riffs on Shonen Jump properties with zero shame, this hits a similar nerve. There's a light romantic thread woven through the high school setting too, though it's mostly there to set up jokes rather than anything heavy.
Fans of Hayate the Combat Butler's self-aware reference humor will feel right at home. It's a short, breezy watch that rewards you more the deeper your One Piece knowledge goes.
