EPISODE CONTEXT
As the first of twelve episodes, this premiere establishes the central emotional conflict and the stakes that will drive Meg's entire arc — her quest to collect a thousand tears of joy. It introduces the mentor-apprentice dynamic with Faust and grounds the series' tone before Episode 2, 'The Apprentice Witch and the People of Lapis,' expands the world and begins introducing the relationships and challenges Meg will face beyond her sheltered starting point.
