Okami-San and Her Seven Companions
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Ryouko Ookami is a rough-and-tumble high schooler who lets her fists do all the talking, punching first and asking questions never. She works as the enforcer for the Otogi Bank, a school club that functions like a favor-trading service — students come in with problems, the club solves them, and those students owe a debt to be collected later. It's a neat setup, and the whole thing is wrapped in fairy tale parodies that are more clever than you'd expect. Ryouko is basically a modern Little Red Riding Hood's wolf, her tiny best friend Ringo is the Red Riding Hood stand-in, and the references keep stacking from there. Then there's Ryoushi Morino, a guy so shy he has a literal fear of being stared at, who confesses to Ryouko and gets dragged into the club after she flatly rejects him. The dynamic between a guy who can barely make eye contact and a girl who solves problems with her fists carries most of the comedy, and the self-aware narrator commenting on everything adds a layer that keeps scenes from feeling stale. It's a 12-episode TV series from J.C.Staff, so it moves quickly and doesn't overstay its welcome. The tone is light and comedic with some genuine romantic moments threaded through. If you liked the relationship dynamic in Wolf Girl and Black Prince or the ensemble energy of something like Witch Watch, this hits a similar sweet spot. It's comfort food anime with a fairy tale coat of paint.
