Oide yo Mahou Shoujo Mura (Fuhou Senkyo)
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Salaryman Tomakomai is 43 years old and so crushed by workplace harassment that she somehow transforms into a magical girl. Not the cute teenage kind — a tired, middle-aged, dead-inside kind. Her solution? Move to the "Magical Girl Village," a community of other magical girls who are equally past their prime and deeply unhinged. The village runs on madness and despair, which honestly might still be an upgrade from corporate life. Each episode is literally one minute long, so this is the kind of thing you throw on when you need 13 minutes of absurdist comedy that asks zero commitment from you. The humor is bleak and quick — it's a gag series that takes every magical girl trope you know and drags it through a midlife crisis. Tomakomai's fellow villagers, like Nemuro and Seikou, bring their own brand of weirdness, and the whole thing plays out like a support group nobody asked for. If you liked Magical Girl Ore for flipping the genre on its head, or Mahou Shoujo Nante Mouiidesukara for its short-form "why is this happening to me" energy, this hits a similar nerve but goes darker and weirder. Think of it as the magical girl show for anyone who's ever stared at a spreadsheet and felt their soul leave their body. Based on a web manga, animated by Kachidoki Studio, and very much not interested in saving the world.
