OK episode, it feels underwhelming after watching Michica's insane character exploration previously. Nechika's idealization of being an absolute being of worship feels too similar to KAngels', but I think I can get behind it because of how the show directly acknowledges it.

Synopsis
Ame craves the internet's love and is barely holding herself together, so her solution is to become the number one streamer under the persona 'OMGkawaiiAngel,' a cutesy, bubbly internet angel. Behind the screen, though, she's popping pills, spiraling emotionally, and leaning hard on her manager slash boyfriend P-chan just to get through the day. The gap between the persona and the person is where this show lives, and it's uncomfortable in the best way. Based on the cult-hit visual novel from 2022, this TV adaptation from Yostar Pictures digs into what internet fame actually costs when the person chasing it is already fragile. The vaporwave-soaked aesthetic and retro PC-98 inspired visuals give it this eerie, nostalgic look that perfectly matches the theme of curating a fake reality online. It's bright and cute on the surface, and then it just isn't. If you liked the way Welcome to the N.H.K. portrayed social withdrawal and self-destruction with dark humor, or how Perfect Blue blurred the line between a performer's identity and her public image, this hits similar notes but filtered through modern streaming culture. There are echoes of Serial Experiments Lain too, in how it treats the internet as something that reshapes who you are. The original game had over twenty endings, most of them grim. Whether the anime commits to that bleakness or finds another path is the real question going in.

Quick Takes
View all 75 takesThe focus on Nechika within this episode felt repetitive of the previous 2 episodes, which did the same character work on Michica and Denpa Girl. Her meeting with Ame felt just a little forced, it stays true to the established structure but is comparatively impromptu.
The reinforced message of KAngel's obligation as an internet angel was pretty entertaining. I was glad the series explored the concept again, since it's easily the most interesting in the entire show. The concept of Karamazov is slowly becoming stale again. The whole "taking down an angel" thing gets old fast.
