Natsuki Crisis
Oshimeter
Synopsis
At her high school, Natsuki Kisumi is the best wrestler around, and she knows it — not out of arrogance, but because she's genuinely put in the work, blending karate, aikido, and judo into something that's entirely her own. Then Rina Takaoka transfers in from Joutou Academy, a school basically built around combat sports, and suddenly Natsuki has someone worth getting excited about. Two strong martial artists, one school — you'd expect rivalry, and there's some of that, but the story moves somewhere more interesting pretty quickly. Rina is carrying baggage from her old school, the kind that follows you in the form of former classmates looking to settle scores. When masked attackers show up, Natsuki and Rina have to figure out whether they're sparring partners or something closer to allies. The action is grounded enough to feel satisfying — real technique, not just flashy animation — with the occasional burst of Ki energy to keep things lively. At only two episodes, it's a short OVA from Madhouse that doesn't overstay its welcome. If you liked the school martial arts energy of Osu!! Karate Club or want something in the vein of Sumomomo Momomo but with a more grounded tone, this scratches a similar itch. It's a quiet little action piece from 1994 with two female leads who are genuinely compelling — not because the show tells you they are, but because you watch them fight.
