EPISODE CONTEXT
Sitting deep in the post-Sasuke Retrieval filler stretch at episode 139 of 220, this installment continues a mini-arc involving Naruto, Sakura, and Jiraiya's encounters with Orochimaru's forces. It follows directly from the Fūma clan betrayal in the previous episode and builds toward the next chapter, 'Two Heartbeats: Kabuto's Trap,' escalating the stakes within this filler storyline. As a non-canon episode, it has no bearing on the main series progression toward Shippuden.
