📖 SYNOPSIS
Head over heels for her cool upperclassman Makinohara, Satsuki Amamiya joins her high school's Photography Club — to the point where Makinohara becomes her primary photo subject. It's endearing and a little obsessive. But when Makinohara graduates and leaves Satsuki in charge, the club's basically just her and her friend An Kiriyama trying to figure out what they actually want to photograph now. Their solution? Merge with the Cinema Club, buy a 360-degree camera off an online auction, and start building DIY drones. The whole thing is set in Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, so there's gorgeous scenery everywhere they point a lens.
This is a 12-episode TV series from studio Soigne, adapted from a 4-koma manga by Afro — the same creator behind Laid-Back Camp. You can feel that DNA here. It's got that same gentle rhythm where the real appeal isn't plot twists but watching characters genuinely enjoy a hobby together, learning new techniques, and appreciating what's around them. The comedy leans into the everyday absurdities of running a tiny school club with more ambition than resources.
If you liked Laid-Back Camp's cozy atmosphere or the club dynamics of K-On!, this hits a similar frequency. It also shares some spirit with Tamayura, another photography-themed slice of life, though Mono leans more into the tech side with its cameras and gadgets. It's a warm, low-stakes hang about creative people finding their eye.
